No Fake News Remarks

Dear President Trump,

I am not pleased that there has been a hurricane and so many people are suffering. However, I think this and serious issues in North Korea have helped you tweet about something other than Fake News. I counted it twice and for the month of August it looks like it only appeared about 11 times. So I am going to take that as a sign that when you are truly working on things for the nation, you don't have time to whine about fake news.

Let's see if we can keep that trend going!

Okay, out of all the grand plan and scheme of things we are still stuck on the wall and you still think Mexico is going to pay for it.  Why would they? What's in it for them? Do we need something they can attach more catapults to?

With Mexico being one of the highest crime Nations in the world, we must have THE WALL. Mexico will pay for it through reimbursement/other.

At this point if a wall is important to YOU, YOU  pay for it. I don't think it will be anything but symbolic. Yes, you said you would do it in the campaign. You even said that Mexico would pay for it. Well if I said that you were going to pay off my house, could I just stop making payments and assume that you would? That makes as much sense as the promise you made that they would pay for the wall.

So President Trump, seriously, Please pay for the wall and pay off my house for me. That way at least two people would be pleased.

Fake Congress, Fake News

Dear President Trump,

I can not tell you how much I hate repeating myself over and over.  However, nothing seems to be changing and the answer is the obvious. So I will keep pointing out the obvious.

Let's STOP talking about Fake News and keep talking about our Fake Congress. Let's take away their vacations and insurance and have them work a regular schedule, like the people they are suppose to represent. Let's cut their pay and make it more consistent with the work they do. There is no reason for them to do any work. The only thing they have to do to earn their lifetime money and benefits is win elections.

Humor me for the next 30 days. Replace Fake New with FAKE CONGRESS!

I just cannot help but be a little cynical. Let's hold off on running for President, again, until we get some things completed now. I am personally not concerned about a wall, but you promised a lot of people it would happen. I do care about a health insurance bill and a tax bill and well, that has not happened either. You seem to know how to get people to buy tickets and pay to get to rallies.Could you work on Congress and get them to do anything. I don't care if it is the Democrats or whomever, just get something done. Seriously.

It looks like we are heading to war to help others and we can not even help ourselves.

So sad, no time for cheer-leading rallies now there is work to be done.

Pay Attention

Dear Mr. President,

My brother-in-law was a very smart and prudent man. One of his favorite things to say was "Life is not that hard, just pay attention." I keep seeing examples of this and I can hear him as if he were still alive and standing right next to me. It seems like I have the opportunity to simplify.

I am not certain why ships keep hitting each other, but I may suggest, less  trusting computers and more paying attention.

I hope we all start paying more attention.

I am supervised that you didn't also mention the applause for the police. These Boston Police stood strong together and pushed back those who were doing their best to turn a protest into a riot. That police department deserves much praise and lots of applause - Please add them to your list.

Important Dates

August 13th

Hello,

It is more about me than anyone else today. However, it may be a reminder to people everywhere. Today would have been my nieces birthday, if she hadn't died in a car wreck. So it is a day to reflect and there is some sadness. Strangers don't know why I am not chipper and happy. 

Maybe as a whole I should be more observant with those I come across and pay attention to their state of mind. (FYI - there is no way to do that on twitter)

So You Are Offended?

Dear President Trump,

I have a message I want to get to the thugs that tore down the statue in Durham. Yes, I do believe they are thugs and that they should be prosecuted. Just because something is offensive doesn't mean we destroy it.

You could avoid it. You could educate people about why you are offended. You could protest. (Protest means no violence and no destruction of property.) All of that would have been acceptable adult responsible behavior. Kicking a downed statue is just throwing a ridiculous tantrum and shows a great degree of ignorance. 

For example, I happen to find certain t-shirts very offensive. Would it be acceptable for me to carry a sign and say I thought it was bad and then tear it off everyone I saw wearing it? Would people tolerate that?

There is a place for civility in our society. If we have completely lost that, then there is not chance for a democracy and a dictatorship is our only solution.

President, Suddenly I know how my parents felt!

Suddenly it dawns on me I know exactly how my parents felt. The teachers, my friends, my family, my enemies, were all saying the same thing. It was a truth. It was undeniable. Still they had to keep saying it over and over like beating a drum and would not learn.

The Big Picture ~ The Small Details

Dear Mr. President,

What is the point of having a representative government if no one represents the the average citizens? They don't even know what we want and need.

Mr. President, in one of your off the cuff statements was that the representatives should have to deal with the current health insurance situation, that everyone else has to deal with. Get a good pen and a great lawyer and make it so.

Congress determines their own wages, vacations, insurance,  etc. It is akin to to handing a group of high school students unlimited control. There is only one thing they "must" do. They must win elections. They don't have to come to work. They don't have to pass good legislation. They don't have to take any pay cuts. All they have to do is win elections and we pay them enough to buy those elections if they have to do it that way.

It doesn't seem like a great system for the average American does it?

Use a pen and a lawyer and change things. You have nothing to lose, they won't pass anything you need or want anyway.

Let's Talk About Charlottesville

Dear President Trump and To Whom it May Concern,

This picture terrifies me. It reminds me of a time when hiding your face and committing horrible crimes was acceptable. I am not sure much has changed, except now there are not many who are hiding their faces. I believe that racism exists on all sides. I don't believe anyone who participates in a riot is "right". (Let's be clear, this was a riot not a protest.)

I want you to read this statement and really think about what it may mean to you personally. "There is no reason to tear apart the fabric that created our country."

I will get personal for a moment. An abusive relationship is hard to live through, and if you make it through it and all are healed it is amazing and it is important not to forget how you got there and how you got out. I will always have a hole in my wall where my head went through. There is not need to patch it. It is my reminder of what we went through to have the great life we have now.

Tearing down a statue doesn't change what happened. Continuing to hate each other and make choices to "riot" about it seems like a useless event to me. A protest is worthy, a riot endangers lives and makes adults turn into children throwing temper tantrums.

How effect would their protest, which they had a permit for, had gone unnoticed by others? I would never put myself in a situation where two warring factions were meeting. Black Lives Matter and White Supremacists are warring factions. They are both exclusive in nature. They should never meet on a street to have an angry brawl. Didn't we learn anything from the Cowboys and the Indians?

I believe it would be amazing if the only people who showed up to the next "White Supremacist Protest" was the protester and the police. The next time Black Lives Matter has a protest, let it be the same. There is a big difference between the right to protest and the crime of riot. 

So here's a challenge to both sides. If you want to educate me in a civil and respectful manner ~ I am willing to learn. Will anyone from either side of the fence take me up on that?

Conflicting Reports

I find this so confusing. You call out newspapers that you give interviews to, does that make sense? Are you as fake as them? Sometimes it makes me wonder. Some say that I should not take anything you say literally and that would save all my worry and concern. Maybe I should give that a go.

If you won't listen to me about tweeting perhaps the Chief of Staff can read them before you hit the enter button.

I can understand you wanting to get your message out, and yet it seems an every changing message.

Oh stop the confusion.

War of Words

I am not certain who this tweet was addressing. Is this the only way that you delivered your message to Kim Jong Un or did you or Secretary Tillerson send a detailed message of our expectations? I don't expect you should detail the conversation, but I would feel better if I knew there was something more than a random tweet.  The thought that tweeting may be the only communication with our allies and enemies is keeping me awake at night.

A simple press statement that says we are communicated with our allies and enemies would ease some tension and let me personally sleep better.

Over 200 Days

Dear President Trump,

It has been over 200 days and I must say, the things you can do all by yourself have been attempted or completed. So I would say that you have done your personal best where you had total control of your to-do list. So I will give you a solid A on that end.

Now the big problems in the first 200 days or so is dealing with others. I have to be honest, this is not your strong suit. I may be a little old school, but airing dirty laundry on Twitter doesn't seem like a great way to build and nurture

Just stop it. There is simply no reason to spew out negative information about people on twitter. You can get very defensive when people share negative information about your family. Perhaps an example will help.

Your son and son-in-law met with an attorney from Russia during your campaign. I do not believe anything "illegal" happened with that meeting. I believe the problem came when they did not disclose it properly. If they had done that no "witch hunt" could have gone after them.

Senator Richard Blumenthal made a mistake. It was wrong, awful and not appropriate. He took responsibility for it.  He then moved on. Instead of that being the end of it, you have to drag it out as if that has "anything" to do with Russia.

I don't understand why you have such a need to embarrass others publicly.  It says more about your lack of understanding and character than it does about theirs. You are acting like a petty bully. It is causing me angst and gray hair. Please stop doing that and please send my money so I can go to the salon and get my hair colored. (Yes, I am serious.)

The United Nations Security Council just voted 15-0 to sanction North Korea. China and Russia voted with us. Very big financial impact!

United Nations Resolution is the single largest economic sanctions package ever on North Korea. Over one billion dollars in cost to N.K.

I am hopeful that these sanctions do something to slow down the hostilities. I am not sure what you can do about a dictator who  has no regard for human live.  Perhaps a billion dollars will mean something, and yet I believe that is barely a drop in the bucket. Still it is good to see the UN stand together.

Waters Where Does Treason Begin?

It is time to “call out” those who are in a position to do great harm to our nation. I was saddened and shocked when I read this

But Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) had no problem with it. Asked on The View Friday morning if she was “disturbed” at all by the apparently illegal leak of confidential conversations Trump had with the presidents of Mexico and Australia during his first week in office, Waters said, “No, not at all. I am so glad they are telling us what’s going on.” “I need to hear these conversations,” Waters continued to applause from the audience. “Unfortunately, this is his problem,” she said of Trump. “He is in a White House where he’s got people working for him who don’t believe in him, don’t like what he’s doing, and they’re trying to tell the American public something.”

Leaking classified information should never be touted as helpful or good. Where does this kind of behavior end?

Recently a friend told me that I needed a “me” day. I don’t really understand the premise. There is always so much work to do that there isn’t really a an option to simply ignore all others and have a me day.

Take Trump to the shack

Dear Mr. President,

Many years ago I read the book “The Shack”, written by William P Young. It had a great impact on my feelings about forgiveness and the way I look at a higher power. It opened up my heart. Over time I had forgotten some of the joy I felt. Recently the movie came out and I was skeptical. I was fearful that I would be disappointed and it would be less powerful than the book. Well today I watched it and I would encourage you to do the same.

I realized while watching this great story that I sometimes fail to recognize the tremendous pressure you must feel. You have made so many promises and raised so much hope and much of it will not happen. Not because you don’t want to make it happen, because you only have agency over your actions and deeds. You cannot force all others to think and act as you wish. Some people are true to their hearts regardless of deals that might be made.

You have an opportunity to do some great things, and none of them can you do alone. So what are some example of unconditional love and respect can you share with me?

You should watch the movie. You should reach out and answer my question.

This is totally false. This statement is not true. This statement is fake news. You can not make a blanket statement like this and expect reasonable, honest people to respect you.

Many people, supporters, real news, intelligent people, want you to learn to use social media properly, or don't use it at all. It has a place, and yet many of your tweets are totally inappropriate and "harm" you and your reputation. Essentially, you are your own worst enemy. You are not the only one you hurt. Your actions and words have consequences for all of us.

Can we try for some good judgement and restraint?

Dear President Trump,

I couldn't be happier today. General Kelly came in and the job got done. I love this, Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters: “The president firmly felt that Anthony’s comments were inappropriate for a person in that position.” Although I wish I heard it from you. Some say I shouldn't give General Kelly credit, however I believe that he is the immediate supervisor. 

I hope your praise of Jeff Sessions becomes very public and prominent. You dressed him down on twitter so many times, you owe him a public apology.

I am very concerned about North Korea and I do not believe tweeting that China is not helping is the answer.

Still here. Still trying to make a difference.
